Klaassen returns to Bundesliga after four years in Amsterdam

Davy Klaassen has left AFC Ajax to join SV Werder Bremen on a three-year contract, the Dutch club announced on Friday. The midfielder returns to the Bundesliga after four years in Amsterdam, having previously played for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Klaassen joined Ajax from Everton in 2018 and has made 183 appearances for the club, scoring 51 goals. He has won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups during his time in Amsterdam.

The 29-year-old is a versatile player who can play in a variety of midfield roles. He is a good passer and has an eye for goal.

Klaassen is the second player to leave Ajax this summer, following the departure of SĂ©bastien Haller to Borussia Dortmund.

Werder Bremen finished 13th in the Bundesliga last season.

Klaassen is likely to make his debut for Werder Bremen in their opening match of the new season against VfL Wolfsburg on August 6.
