Jackson Merrill's Milestone

Jackson Merrill, the Padres' top prospect, reached a significant milestone on Tuesday night, hitting his first home run at the Double-A level.

The 19-year-old shortstop connected on a 1-2 pitch from Corpus Christi Hooks starter J.P. Sears, sending the ball over the left-field wall.

Merrill is now batting .296 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 14 games at Double-A.

Ha-Seong Kim's MRI

Ha-Seong Kim underwent an MRI on his left thumb on Tuesday, and the results revealed a sprain.

The Padres shortstop is expected to miss at least a week with the injury.

Kim has been struggling at the plate lately, batting just .172 with one home run and four RBIs in his last 10 games.

Rehab Assignments Coming

Outfielder Jorge Mateo and reliever Michel Baez are both expected to begin rehab assignments on Wednesday.

Mateo has been sidelined since April 19 with a right hamstring strain.

Baez has been out since May 1 with a left elbow impingement.
